Tether launches USDT stablecoin on the Liquid Network

in #tether5 years ago

Stablecoin issuer Tether launches its USDT token in the Liquid Network developed by Blockstream, CoinDesk writes. Thanks to this, traders and other participants of the ecosystem will have access to new opportunities, which were impossible to implement on their own platform Tether.

The Liquid Network acts as an additional layer above the Blockchain and allows large sums of money to be transferred at high speed. With the addition of USDT support in the network, it will be possible to implement atomic swaps between Liquid BTC and stablecoin. In addition, traders will now be able to replenish their USDT wallets at the stock exchanges more quickly.

To store Liquid USDT it is proposed to use the Blockstream Green wallet. It is also assumed that in the near future the support of the asset will be implemented in Trezor hardware wallets.

In addition, the developers expect that USDT based on the Liquid Network will be used to make "instant and low cost payments". The possibility of input/output of USDT via Liquid Network will be implemented on the Bitfinex exchange.

At the end of May, Tether announced the launch of USDT on the EOS blockchain.
