In Memory of Lombok - Please Help When You Can // Gempa di Lombok
I am sure you have heard
...of the big earthquake happened and still happening in an island in Indonesia - in Lombok.
I have been meaning to post about it, but it's really not easy for me as this island means so much. My father spent his childhood until before high school on this island, my family visits it plenty times. Us as well. My husband, my kids, and I, whenever we are holidaying to Indonesia, we would (always) make a stop at Lombok and their famous 3 Gili Islands of Trawangan, Air, and Meno, the local and international tourist destinations. We like it there better than Bali, apart that it has history to my father, it is more tranquil for those who are escaping the big crowded and noisy city life, and more humble as well.
Sedihnya yah melihat situasi di Lombok
Teman-teman pasti juga mengikuti berita gempa di Lombok kan?. Belum selesai sepertinya alam mau menyapa, dari 7 skala richter, terjadi kembali gempa susulan yang tidak kalah besarnya 6.2 skala richter
Belum juga shock berlalu, sudah dihampiri kembali. Keluarga belum diketemukan, anak-anak baru saja mau mulai tersenyum, dah harus kembali berduka. Pedih lihat berita, euy
Lombok merupakan pulau tujuan kalau kami pulang dari Kanada. Disamping untuk berlibur, Papa-ku cukup lama bermukim di Lombok, masa kecil beliau. Jadi keluargaku sering sekali main-main ke Lombok
Magnitude 7 earthquake, ladies and gentlemen, a couple of days ago (altho some news said it was 6.9 richter), triggered 1/2 meter high tsunami. Glad it wasn't the worst but they got hit with another 6.2 magnitude just yesterday. So far, the numbers of the victims are already at 300, and it's climbing.
It's very sad.
Now and then I would check news, pictures, and videos, checking on updates. Very heartbreaking.
Crazy. When natural disaster happens with or without warning, often nobody could avoid it, not everyone could cheat the death, so to say

Tak henti-hentinya aku mengecek berita. Lihat foto-foto di Google, video-video di Instagram, duuuh, sedih deh :(
Adakah teman-teman di followers ku yang berasal dari Lombok? Punya kerabat maupun kenalan disana? Apa kabarnya kah mereka? Semoga selamat dan tabah yah :(
Memang kalau musibah sudah datang, tak banyak yang bisa kita lakukan selain saling membantu dan tetap tawakal.

Have you been to Lombok?
Lombok was a beauty the last time I was there, in 2016. Lombok had always been a beauty.
Green, waterfalls here and there, with mountains and hills surrounding, plenty beaches and some are with white sands, mesmerizing view of paddy fields (a.k.a rice field), coconut trees everywhere, unique Hindu temples, colorful Moslem mosques, lovely foods, historical, cultural, friendly people and monkeys too.
Apakah teman sudah pernah ke Lombok?
Pulau yang bagus, indah, dan asri, seperti kebanyakan pulau-pulau di Indonesia
Alamnya cantik sekali, air terjun disana-sini, begitu pula daerah berbukit dan bergunung. Pantainya pun masih banyak yang bersih, ada yang belum terjamah turis, dan ada pula yang berpasir putih.
Masyarakatnya pun ramah dan hidup damai dengan pura dan masjid di sekitar mereka
Lombok and its Gili Islands are heaven for those who love swimming, snorkeling, surfing, boating, fishing, and even yoga
I truly hope they will bounce back from this disaster and be what they were once before. A peaceful and strong community. A great warm and friendly place to take your family for vacation, where one can truly appreciate nature and its beauty
My young sons always bring up Lombok and its beaches, how they long to return there, sometimes it's hard to pick other destination for holiday as they would insist we just go to Indonesia beach (they mean Lombok :) It's not just the beaches, but people always treat my sons so very kindly whenever we are there, even to a point where they are spoilt by the locals with gifts in the form of traditional cakes and local fruits. These nice gestures stay in their young minds. They would say "remember mom, when I was ---this and that---from that guy, or from that lady" etc.
Kalau teman senang berlibur, terutama yang suka berenang, lihat-lihat penyu dan ikan yang cantik-cantik, memancing, dan bahkan yoga, pasti senang sekali kalau bisa berlibur ke Lombok serta ke-3 pulau Gili mereka, yaitu Trawangan, Air, dan Meno
Memang itu yang dicari para turis lokal maupun mancanegara, dan Lombok serta ke-3 pulai Gili sangat bisa menawarkan hal-hal tersebut
Belum lagi masyarakatnya yang damai dan tentram, bikin siapapun senang untuk berkunjung
Anak-anakku sering banget mengucap bahwa mereka kangen untuk ke Indonesia, terutama ke pantai Indonesia (maksudnya pantai-pantai di Lombok dan di Gili). Kadang susah mau jalan-jalan ke negara lain, karena kalau kami tanya ke anak-anak, maunya liburan nanti kemana, pasti deh Indonesiaaaah, pantaaaiii. Ke tempat bapak/ibu yang baik itu, ma, pa. Anak-anak alhamdulillah sering dimanja orang-orang Indo yang mereka temui, meski bukan keluarga :) Dan itu membekas dihati mereka.
I surfed around Steemit and found many people blogged about their travel experiences while in Lombok. I wonder if they have heard about the earthquake. I wonder if some were actually there when the quakes happened (I think so far only @celestialcow that I read was there). I hope not, I asked around Discord, nobody answered, so that should be a good sign.
Many international tourists were evacuated, but I read some decided to stay, to help the locals, as they love Lombok and its famous Gili Islands, as they consider Lombok and the Gilis as home. This is so touching. Strangers, who are not Indonesians, yet feel at home and want to help Indonesians. Humanity exists still, that is very humbling.
I know time is tough in crypto life these days, but the victims need our help. They deserve basic human needs like the rest of us, food, water, and medical supplies to survive through this desperate time.

Tadi aku keliling Steemit, mengecek unggahan teman-teman akan Lombok. Banyak sekali blog bagus mengenai Lombok. Sempat terpikir, apa mereka sudah tau akan gempa yang terjadi di Lombok, apa mereka pas ada disana ketika gempa terjadi, semoga tidak, dan jika ada yang pas disana saat musibah ini terjadi, semoga mereka selamat dan baik-baik saja
Aku lihat satu WNA Steemit @celestialcow, pas ada disana. Dia sempat menulis saat gempa terjadi, dan beberapa WNA ada di Bali saat merasakan gempa, Mereka semua baik-baik saja sepertinya
Akupun keliling Discord bertanya-tanya jika ada yang sedang di Lombok/Bali (selain @ekavieka), dan tampaknya juga tak ada yang sedang disana, atau jika mereka ada disana, mereka tak ada di Discord ataupun tidak bisa online? Semoga jika ada, mereka pun tak apa-apa
