The Hive Critical Observations

Over the past few weeks I have being paying a bit more attention to what the witness does on Steemit. I see very little in the way of change. This is my rant or opinion on Steemit and witness in general.

Essentially the role of the witness is to keep Steemit platform up and running through the provision of nodes. Dependant on the level gained through votes and the value of the votes. A witness is given a positional rank. The higher the rank the greater chance of earning a profit.

That's the limitations of my knowledge on a witness, so far as what they are required to do.
Many take on other projects too. Helping out through funding for physical world projects. Others support the Steemit community through providing different services to the Steemit community online. Some choose a direction of monitoring the platform for plagiarism or spam. Some take the other direction and find the good quality content and promote those.

It seem's there are many ways to benefit the platform, to assist and help others. There is more than one way to have a positive outcome.
So to any witness out there who may read this. I do see the good you do. I do see the understand the value of your projects. I see how your projects benefit some. I have voiced with a few of these witness, not enough to have a general opinion across the board. Some of the witness I have came across have being voted on as a witness and are listed at the end of this post. These were chosen from the opinions others have on those specific witness, my own opinion and the interactions had with them during the general day to day activities on Steemit.

We have had Bitcoin, and so many other crypto come on the market. SBD/STEEM is one river of finance that flows to the ocean of crypto. Along this river there are ponds created in some parts lakes in others. just a straight run in parts and waterfalls in others. Not many of the Steemit fish actually go to the sea. The majority of us swim in these small ponds or lakes now and then a few of us will journey from the smaller ponds to a lake.
Overall, we stay away from the ocean. Although we may all want to go to the sea, The truth is we wont. There are many reasons for this the value of the currency in relation to where you live may leave it non profitable for you to survive from working on the Steemit platform. Your time may be restricted, due to having to work or family obligations. This list could go on and on as each person added their own restrictions to why they cannot.

There are small rewards and efforts there to keep new members to the Steemit posting and earning rewards even if they are minor, Such as @dustsweeper which will ensure votes which do not reach a threshold payout will get paid. This service although has an initial cost to set up, repays more with time and well worth the investment.

Even for us plankton I see we can grow, so I am not here complaining about how hard it is to grow. I see what is needed to be done, I see it can be done, I will do it. I will help as many as I can do it too along the way.

Point 1.
Steem/SBD are crypto's. When I go places and I listen to what people say crypto's are. It is often, crypto's is what will remove the power the banks hold over us. Crypto will open the doors to a global free market. Crypto and the block-chain will revolutionise how we do things.
Bollox! I say it will change nothing, those who make the changes will be those who control the highest proportion of a currency regardless of it being a crypto or fiat.

Point 2.
A reflection of the real world has taken over in the crypto market. It is used in a wide area for profit, no I am not complaining, only saying what is. The greed for wealth, although with the bitcoin drop in price to less than ½ some of this may have dropped off due to risk fears. Overall people are in crypto to profit not for the community social or mutual benefits to all.

Point 3.
Within Stemit itself, as mentioned above there are many witness and other not just the witness, who are involved and work on community projects, platform projects too many to begin listing. These witness fight for that top spot on the witness list, top spot fills more blocks and gets the highest rewards. The majority of the witness I have heard or spoken with, are all in agreement change is needed, in the physical world and on Steemit. That is one thing they all seem to have in common.

Crypto to change the world. How crypto is used now. The Steemit platform.
We have the opportunity now to make real beneficial changes in the physical world. Are we big enough to take it? Or are we reliant on an authority to make the changes we would like them to make.
Solutions are there if we take advantage of them. The division in the Steemit platform is no different to those in the political arena of many countries if not all. It's my finance talks.
Each witness seem's to have a community, and they look after that community. In many cases that seem's to be it.
I say if you are a community minded witness, it is great your community works well and your members learn grow both or other. You also have a opportunity to do other things, by working together with other communities. A community should not be limited to what they can do or who they can assist. Find like minded witness, and work together on communal projects. Find profit making opportunities (air-drops I would say are more self promotion and self profiting if it is a group token) and offer these to your members.

Why can some witness not come together, with all that might and brain power. Start something in the physical world where Steemit is accepted as a standard currency for transactions. Why does each witness have to have a small corner where they do al their good deeds. why not put a piece of each witness to a pool and create changes in the physical world?

If community is about working together and each witness has a community of people. Should not these leaders of a community of people working together be able to work together?
