5 Minute Freewrite ~ Rule
"That's the rule!"
"No, it's not! You liar!"
"Yes, huh! If you don't believe me go ask Mommy!"
"But she's never played this game before," Libby whines her eyes filling with tears.
"If you cry it will ruin everything," Johnny scolds.
She knows this is true. The last thing their Mom wants on this outing is for them to bicker. This trip to the beach is supposed to be for relaxing. She remembers her mother saying as they piled into the station wagon only an hour ago.
Libby dries her tears with her bare arm, and sniffs rather dramatically. Johnny places his hand on her shoulder. "Now that's better. She never noticed. Ok, so like I was saying," his voice drops to a whisper. "The rule is, you have to go touch the bald guy's head once and run around his beach towel 5 times to earn the point."
Libby takes a deep breath and eyes the man sitting not three feet away from them, his head glistening brightly in the sun. Before she can waiver, she sets off at a strong run with an outstretched hand.
