Several hypotheses have emerged such as those of a plot, extraterrestrials, a sea monster or even a fault in the temporal vortex. These theories are a little farfetched I grant you.

Another theory is defended this time by scientists. This theory could shed light on the dozens of strange aircraft and ship extinctions in this area of the Atlantic Ocean.

Indeed, for 70 years, the legend of the Bermuda Triangle is of interest to many filmmakers, novelists, journalists and scientists. This imaginary geographical area of the Atlantic Ocean located between Miami, Puerto Rico and Bermuda would have been the theater of a large number of disappearances of ships and aircraft.

A team of Russian and Norwegian researchers, who are interested in the phenomenon of Siberian sinkholes that are a form of limestone erosion. The dissolution of surface limestone leads to the formation of holes measuring from a few meters to several hundred meters in diameter could finally have found a logical and scientific explanation.

They know how to explain the underwater holes that are forming in the Yamal Peninsula, around the Arctic that could also apply to the mysterious disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle.

Indeed, with global warming, the pockets of methane created by the action of bacteria trapped in the sediment in solid form, melt under the effect of warming water and are released. The sediment can then break under the pressure of the gas and cause significant degassing. This phenomenon causes a kind of hole in the ocean and boats that would sail over these areas would somehow be sucked to the bottom.

These pockets of methane called burning ice have been, over the centuries, trapped by ice and are a kind of gas in the solid state.
One of these gas pockets has been observed in the Kara Sea and is releasing streams of methane. Underwater craters form and gases escape, creating unpredictable instability.

If the boats float, it is because the liquid mass they move is greater than their own mass, and they are therefore carried by the water. But if the water is suddenly replaced by gas, the boat no longer floats and sinks.

This is the same phenomenon that applies to aircraft, in fact, the high concentration of methane suddenly back in the air and creates strong atmospheric turbulence, over the sea, which disrupts the navigation of aircraft and sometimes it entails an air crash.

This hypothesis had already been advanced in 2001 to explain the strange sinking of a trawler. The wreck of the boat had been found at the bottom of the ocean, resting on its keel as if it had stopped fluttering at all times, and had descended straight, falling, intact in appearance, and as center of a huge crater 120 meters and 3 meters deep, named the Witch's Hole.

The building, about twenty meters long, seemed perfectly intact, without the slightest scratch explaining the reasons for the sinking.

However, if the theory of bursting pockets of methane is possible in some parts of the planet, it is unlikely that this phenomenon occurs naturally in the Bermuda Triangle. The Atlantic seabed is too deep and the organic matter is not large enough to cause sinking of ships.

What is most intriguing in these disappearances is that there are still many disappearances and in addition the wrecks found are very often intact, in fact, there is no hole in the hull, the wings of planes are not damaged.
