The Power Of Sound - Post #26

in #thepowerofsound4 years ago (edited)

Here, I share with you the music I've come across that has a certain quality to it, rare and elusive. The kind of music that moves you so deeply in a way that you can't understand or describe. The lyrics or music or video may make no sense to your brain, but it does to your soul. It's beautifully cathartic and inspiring.

If you've ever been into rock and metal music in the 00s, I'm sure you've heard at least one or two of Crossfade's songs. Back in 2004 they released their first album, self-titled, as is the standard with radio rock bands. Their songs "Cold" and "Colors" were big hits back in the day.

I remember playing MX vs ATV Unleashed on my uncle's PS2 when I was a little kid and hearing the song Cold in the soundtrack. It was the first really heavy song I ever heard, and I wanted more. Even back then as a happy and mostly innocent child, I was always fascinated by darker music, angry or melancholy, with little interest in shallow happy radio music. I got the whole Crossfade album a few years later, and then their second album, Falling Away.

Their third album, released in 2011, goes deep, far beyond everything they had previously written.

Sadly, the release seemed to go largely unnoticed and Crossfade has been inactive since then, with the exception of a couple recent solo releases by their frontman Ed Sloan. That is why I share this with you beautiful readers today. A lot of the best music out there isn't easy to find and I hope to bring some light to art that deserves more recognition.

The older I get, the more I understand their music.

This is for those who find solace not in happy, carefree music, but in music that reflects the darkness we all feel sometimes. In We All Bleed, Crossfade lets go of all filters. They aren't trying to be anything or fit into any neat boxes. They write what they feel, boldly and unapologetically. The lyrics are even more real, honest, and thoughtful than their previous releases. The music is pure genius, heavy rock/metal with keyboards and samples contributing to a very dark atmosphere. Every layer of sound fits together into perfection.

This is the sound of a soul who has fallen very low and found the strength to turn back around, to channel all his pain and suffering into music as he finds his way back to the light, helping countless others in the process.

Every single song on this album is a masterpiece.

It wouldn't be fair to only pick one song to share. The album as a whole is one piece of music just as each song is one piece of music, and to be fully appreciated, it deserves at least one full listen.

If you're going through a hard time in your life for whatever reason, this is for you. If you are doing relatively well, you may still find this beautiful.

Thank you so much for reading! If you like what you see and hear, please consider upvoting and resteeming; it helps a lot! Thank you for your support on my previous posts! It really means a lot to know that you all appreciate my writing.

Stay tuned for more exceptional music in a week or two!
