Speaking My Own Truth - Day 118 - Daily Haiku - and some Questions for Empaths and Lightworkers

Speaking my own truth
while tempering it with kindness
is an act of love

Cori MacNaughton

I wrote this haiku earlier tonight, and later, on my way home, I was listening to a masterclass with Neale Donald Walsch. He was speaking about the rules of relationships the CWG way, in which he said the same thing, almost verbatim. And it is interesting to me how often that sort of thing happens, especially recently.

In-between, shortly before I started for home, I met a young woman who is on a similar spiritual path to mine, and is also a strong empath, but she's doing it all with three children at home, the oldest of which is eighteen.

Most of the empaths I know are feeling under the gun, with everything going on in the world, and she is no exception. My hat's off to her, as she is a courageous woman facing life fully, and retaining her sense of humor, which is not always an easy task.

I can't even imagine going through it all with kids at home. Fur, feather and scale kids are hard enough sometimes.

One of the toughest things for me, as both an empath and a somewhat outgoing introvert, is allowing myself to be seen, to be visible, since my own inclination is far more to crawl into my shell and hide.

But it has become more and more clear to me, as the years pass, that it is important for me to get my words and ideas out there, and to be completely authentic, even though it is scary. And I've been told by a number of people that my words have helped them.

One of the many blessings of growing up in my particular family, is that we were all interested in so many different things, that all of us wound up better read and more knowledgeable than we probably would have otherwise.

As my mom used to say, I know a little bit about a lot of things, and a lot about a few things that really interest me; and it is important to me to pass that information on, along with the insights I've gained along the way.

As for those who claim that the concept of "my truth" and "your truth" is invalid, as there is "only one" universal truth, all I can say is that they don't know much about human nature, since we are each individuals with our own experiences and perspectives; or about science, which has shown unequivocally in recent years that all truth depends upon perspective.

This is, in fact, what the Theory of Relativity is largely all about . . . everything depends, not only upon itself, but upon everything else that it relates to. Nothing exists in a vacuum.

We humans tend to find the truths we expect to find, which is why it is important to spend time with people who do not think as we do, so that we can in fact learn new ways of thinking about things, and different approaches to problem-solving. As Einstein said, we cannot solve problems with the same mindset with which we created them.

So I will continue sharing my unique, unusual, often humorous and occasionally decidedly odd perspectives, on whatever subject matter strikes my fancy, and I will do my best to continue sharing my authentic self, while resisting the impulse to run and hide.

Meanwhile, I have a question for the other empaths and lightworkers on Steemit: How are you dealing with all the vibrational and spiritual noise in the world?

How are you protecting yourself from overload, how are you honoring your own needs, and is it working?

Melaleuca, a company that has been making natural, eco-friendly
products since the 1980s, that not only work as well as
chemically laden versions from the supermarket,
but are safer, and typically save money overall in addition.

I was introduced to them by a co-worker in 1990, lost track
of them, and was thrilled to find them again about a year
and a half ago. I strongly recommend their products.

All words are my own.

The images were taken by Marek, most likely with his Nikon N80 35mm camera, which was his workhorse camera when we met. The first image is of me by our back yard fire in Largo, Florida, on 14 June 2007; the second image, of me with our dog Sprinkles, was taken on a camping trip on 29 May 2007 along the Suwannee River in north Florida.

The photo of our dog, Lolo, and our late cat, Miod, I took as they were cooperatively begging at the dinner table, despite our longstanding rule of not feeding them from the table.

You can see how much that deterred them both.
