We continue to see this way of funding projects become more prevalent; first with the use of centralized sites like Kickstarter but also with the Ethereum Network’s ERC-20 framework. It has unfortunately led to both regulatory concerns as governments and institutions defend their space and scams as fraudsters will always take advantage of those less diligent. However, great projects can also be created and these decentralized options will be the future. As Steem creates the SMT platform we wil see even more closer to us which will lead to interest ways to both create and consume content in the ecosystem. It is one of the most interesting concepts of decentralized blockchain solutions going into the future.
I find the idea of blockchain funding really fascinating as if enough people can agree on the legitimacy and value, it can essentially take the middlemen banks and investors out completely. I am not saying it will happen this way but the institutions and governments need to act otherwise they risk being forked out of relevance.
