Thoughts on reading
On of my new favorite things to do is read, read and then read. I've been trying to get more into reading and even read more classic books. Here in steemit you can also read lots of interesting topics and information that treated carefully can help you and learn something. I've seen that steemit is different from many other social media because you can read peoples valuable ideas and thoughts, expand your horizons and also get to interact with them directly. I believe that reading important stuff, on what ever topic you like: #trading, #homesteading, #crypto etc. You can find different communities in steemit, join them and engage in their activities.
Many times I found myself spending (wasting) time on other social media, scrolling down for information and then only thing I could find was just successful stories of friends and people I know that were traveling the world, getting new cars or just doing something that felt some how not aligned to what I was living or what I was going to be doing. I found myself then struggling to live my reality and judging it with their reality, after quitting facebook, twitter and instagram, I found that things has slowed down and everything seems to be more like real life, no need to show off your dinner or trip or stay at x hotel, in fact it seems that the only one really enjoying not being there is myself. I learned that nobody really cared about that and giving a like, retweet or upvote was just as easy as that, cost nothing and what you get from that equals the cost of actually performing it, nothing. I feel that my life is now enlighten and while I've been in some situations where friends are discussing the actual popular new about X model or something like that, I've started to engage in deeper and thoughtful conversation and sometimes when there is a chance to talk about trading, crypto or technology it seems that I am more up to date and with the latest trends and seems like everything just comes down to the fact that I spend more time reading, say articles, posts here in steemit or about things I might even see here in steemit and then perform my own research.
Given the nature of steemit, it seems like most people here are like minded, financial aware and technological enthusiasts, the ecosystem also promotes the education, learning and improvement specially if you are in an specific community, and this my friends is what I started to enjoy about steemit more than its actual money system and rewarding strategy.

Agree, there is something magical about being absorbed in a good book, but for me it is nothing compared to connecting with someone- one on one.
