RE: Two Minute Crypto – Wild Thoughts 3

I like your vision...and agree with it longterm. My fear is in the short term.
Anything as revolutionary as blockchain can be used for great good, or great evil. Ex: China’s new social score program scares me to death.
Governments around the world see the writing on the wall. Have you ever seen a government willingly or peacefully give up power? I haven’t either. The trajectory is ALWAYS toward power accumulation. They need the people dependent on government to ensure its survival. You start to stream line the system with blockchain, you’d expose a TON of waist, fraud and abuse...and governments around the world, especially in socialist/communist countries, will fight like hell to prevent that kind of transparency.
When decisions, funds and statistics can no longer be covered up in a bureaucratic black hole, government looses much of its power. The people start seeing clearly and become much more self reliant while politician’s loose 80-90% of their power. IMO, this can’t happen fast enough.
I truly do hope we see the system change peacefully. But I’m not holding my breath.

Sort:

True - a blockchain with a backdoor is worse than no blockchain at all - it would provide a veneer of transparency while actually empowering the corrupt - I'm confident this will be rolled out across the globe - however, these 'fake' chains should hopefully wither on the vine if truly decentralized and non-censorable models emerge. Let the struggle commence!
