Anime review: "Tokyo Ghoul" (GOOD)
NOTE: Watched season 1.

A boy gets attacked by a demonic human, called a ghoul, but barely survives it thanks to a planned attack aimed for said ghoul. Both are taken to the hospital, where he gets few of her organs implanted for an experiment, and wakes up as a half-ghoul, experiencing all the problems that come with it.
I found this interesting. It not only showed how humans experience these creatures, but also the struggles the ghouls have to go through in order not be a nuisance to the human race. You'd expect monsters to just be monsters, but they have real concerns.
A less exciting part of the series was the friendship between the main character and the one ghoul girl he supposedly hangs around with all the time. The show implies they've spent alot of time together, but it didn't look that tight to me. He treats her nicely, but I don't see the same level of respect returned to him. They are far from superbest friends, yet the scenes and dialogue they show concerning these characters pretend they "sort of are". It's hard to explain.
Anyway, I'm not sure what else to say. I've not yet watched the second season, it wasn't out yet back when I watched this, but the first season indeed feels like an introduction to something greater. I'm eager to watch the rest someday.
Interesting indeed and exactly what I wanted to see/know how the other side, the ghouls feel.. it is just an other specie. Not everything should be about humans
Of course you have ghouls who think they're superior and that humans should bow down to them, but the rest just wants to live alongside them in peace. They even teach each other to digest normal food in order not to stand out, since these creatures can't actually eat anything but human flesh.
A simple piece of cake tastes awful to them and will make them sick, so they have to puke that stuff out at a later time.
