Bora Bora is one of the Leeward Islands, of the Society Islands, in French Polynesia and is formed by a volcano, inside a lagoon and a reef strip. Its summit is Mount Otemanu (727 m) located in the center of the atoll; Another summit, Mount Pahia, on the main island, reaches 661 meters of altitude.

Today the island is almost totally dependent on tourism. In recent years several tourist centers have been built on the islets of the reef (motu) that surrounds the lagoon. In the 80s, the Hotel Bora Bora built the first over-the-water (“over the water”), houses on stilts in the lagoon and nowadays this type of buildings is a standard feature in most of the complexes of Bora Bora.
Called «the pearl of the Pacific», it is one o1557536642498.jpgf the most visited islands in French Polynesia. It is also considered one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world, with French and Tahitian being its main languages.
