10 Interesting Facts About Niger State

Have been very busy due to the demands of my studies that's why I wasn't able to post lately.

Also for the past 3 days it has been raining heavily in the city of Minna, Niger State.

I was thinking of what to share with you guys today and I decide to share some interesting facts about this beautiful state where am currently schooling Niger State.

Niger state is one of the state in Nigeria located in the middle belt region of the country with a population of over 4 million.

Here's some of the interesting facts I did like with about Niger state.

#1. Niger state has the largest land mass in Nigeria with a total area of 76,363 km2 (29,484 sq mi)

#2. The famous river Niger is located in this wonderful state.

#3. Niger is largest producing rice and sugar cane state in Nigeria.

#4. The federal capital territory of Nigeria am talking of Abuja was formerly a part of Niger state.

#5. Niger state is a great geological researcharea as its full of mountains, rocks the likes Zuma rock etc.

#6. Niger state consist of two major ethnic groups the Gbagyi and Nupe

#7. Niger state has two major universities first one is Federal university of Technology considered the best technology school in Nigeria and Ibrahim Babangida Badamosi named after former military head of state Ibrahim Babangida.

#8. Niger state is also known as the Power State because it houses two of Nigeria's hydroelectric dam Kanji dam which the largest electricity generating dam and Shiroro dam.

#9. Guarara water falls one of the interesting tourist site attraction in Nigeria is located in Niger state.

#10. The major occupation of the citizens in Nige is farming and fishing.
