MAY 1998 TRAGEDY THAT CAN NOT BE FORGOTED BY THE INDONESIAN PEOPLE

in #tragedy6 years ago

one of Indonesia's dark history occurred on May 12-15, 1998. The Joint Fact Finding team noted that 1217 people were burnt to death, 31 were missing, and 52 ethnic Chinese women were raped and burning incidents occurred in Jakarta, Solo, Medan and Yogyakarta . The many confusions about the tragedy of May 1998, confusing me to take the gist of what really happened to the event.

the tragedy of May 1998 was a public outcry against the brutality of the security forces in the Trisakti incident that killed fellow activists while demanding the fall of the New Order. The mobs were then transferred to the Indonesians themselves descendants, especially Chinese descendants, because at that time they were the most minority, making them easy to target. Mass rage occurred throughout the day and night, Massa's anger began on the night of May 12 and became increasingly out of control on the afternoon of May 13 after hearing the news of the fall of a student who was shot by the authorities.

Until May 15, 1998 in Jakarta and many other big cities in Indonesia there was a huge unrest of riots resulting in thousands of buildings, shops and houses in Indonesian cities destroyed and destroyed by mass fires. Some students try to calm the community but can not control the many angry mobs.

The May 1998 riots left thousands of deaths, countless homes and buildings and economic facilities devastated by the event. Not to mention the psychological effects of incidents of burning, persecution, rape of ethnic Chinese and who were forced to lose family members when the riots occurred.

May 1998 Damage, The Price Should Be Paid By Chinese Ethnic

This May is the historic days that are part of TIONGHOA in Indonesia due to the case of the 13-15 May 1998 riot in Jakarta. As we all know, Chinese verses became victims of the violence that occurred at the time, where Chinese houses, shops, companies and assets were burned and their contents looted; including rape, torture and harassment of hundreds of Chinese women at the time.

As quoted from the Wikipedia site and various media blog / website other references, it was concluded that Riots that occurred in May 1998 occurred because:

  1. The shooting of Trisakti student activists on May 12, 1998, titled 4 students killed and others who gave demo action of Monetary Crisis in Indonesia.

  2. The Asian Financial Crisis, which issued criticisms of the government at that time (New Order).

but the most disadvantaged of this series of events is that the real Chinese do not know anything, and do not even want to take any further headaches about this student demonstration (which was painful to shake the government at that time).

The ethnic Chinese also do not want to bother who is the coup, or who is deploying troops, etc. All we know, we just want to live safe and peaceful in this Country; But the fact that we are "sacrificed" as victimizing reform.

today is right on the 13th of May, I remember the tragedy that can not be forgotten Indonesian citizens and I also remembered the victims of the tragedy of May 1998.

I am very grateful to all who have visited my blog.
greetings of peace and freedom.

I read this post and the one you psted 17 days ago. To have lived this through must have been horrible. But more horrible is what those who were murdered and/or raped experienced.

To have a leader that would do this to his own people is horrible.

Your people and the people of the world must never forget.

As sad as this was tonread thank you for sharing, and bringing this to my attention.
