India to Australia: Halt at the fireball festival

Fire Boat festival or Lao Boun Lay Hua Fai in Lao marks the end of Buddhist Lent, when everyone sends small lighted ‘boats’ made of banana stems or banana leaves decorated with candles and flowers down the river in hope of better luck next year, and to give thanks to the river. The sky is lit up with sky lanterns and fireworks. The city center is filled with people, food stalls, games, live music and alot of entertainment. It's an incredible experience all together.
