The Magick of the Stones

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

The Merry maidens of Cornwall is with out a doubt a magical place set on a hill in the Cornish countryside you can feel this place to your very core whilst you walk around the stone circle.

Some of these ancient places are highly respected still in the living pagan community and it is not unusual to see offerings and tokens left by other visitors.

If you visit these sites have the respect to leave what you see alone as it is a wish or dream left by a fellow traveller.

So myth has it, a group of maidens turned to stone for dancing on the sabbath, just across the path a couple of hundred meters away you see two other standing stones that are meant to be the pipers that played for the maidens on that day .

The stones of the circle stand around 1.2m tall and seem to a-line to lunar movement thorough out the year
The pipers are a couple of hundred meters to the northeast and stand around 3m tall.
the pipers are said to be some of the tallest standing stones still to stand in Cornwall.

We will over this summer try and visit as many of the Cornish ancient sites as we can and share them with the Steemit world.
