Edition of bicycle expedition (Lhokseumawe - Sabang Island). Part #1

In the year 2013 I along with Asbun Umpal doing bike expedition to Sabang Island, this small activity was born from our daily discussion. Many are laughing at our story that will use a bicycle to Sabang, because the logic from where I live takes 7 hours to Banda Aceh and 2 hours cross to the island of Sabang. We remain firm in our stance, although many do not believe in this activity.

A few days before departure, we continue to prepare. Starting from the provision of funds activities, bicycles, and other purposes. Here is our travel history.

Day 1 (August 13, 2013)

At 06.00 am we are ready to leave, our target will be to stop at the Secretariat of Nature Lovers Al-Muslim Bireuen to check the first point. From our Basecamp to Bireuen takes 1 hour using Motorcycle or car, calculation of our time for 2 hours will get there if there are no obstacles on the road. As we were about to leave Basecamp, everyone laughed at us who were ready to leave. We can only smile, we will prove to them that we can. Our trip to Bireuen went smoothly, at 08.00 we arrived there and rested. Incidentally we do this activity in the month of fasting, we must set the power to keep our fast until awake breaking time arrived.

After a short break in Bireuen, we continued our journey to Sigli County. Our target will finish in Sigli and will rest at the KOPALA Pidie Secretariat. The day was very hot, we had to stop repeatedly not want to force to row a bike. The distance we will travel 117 Km, if using the car spend time for 3 hours, walking for 1 day and if using a bike takes 8 hours. The first day is the hardest day, let alone our condition in fasting state. We have to manage our power not to drop and get to the second point.

In Blang Blahdeh we had time to rest because the road conditions are very hot, after that we rest in Jeunib Mosque to bathe and Prayer Zuhur. We had fallen asleep 2 beside the mosque, then got up to continue the journey. It turns out very heavy if cycling in a state of fasting, our patience continues to be tested.

Our journey continues back towards Sigli town, the weather is still very hot. Over and over again we had to rest because of kecapean. We realize that physical preparation is very less, naturally we have to stop a lot to rest.

I and Asbun Umpal are still eager to pedal a bike until the destination. The day was almost dark, we finally decided to break the fast in Menasah Village West Rangro Pidie Jaya. We plan to pray Maghrib and Shalat Isya first, then we continue the trip to Sigli.

We are ready to continue the journey, head lamp we have provided because we will travel night. Our target overnight in Sigli County, we have to get there tonight. We keep rowing bikes slowly, I also encourage my colleague Asbun and vice versa.

(**Kopala Pidie Basecamp**)

Finally at 00.00 we arrived at Pidie District, right at the Secretariat KOPALA Pidie. It was not until we got there, but thanks to the persistent struggle we got safely. We immediately rested because the condition of our bodies very tired, we fell asleep unconscious.
