My Trip To Croatia Videos Part #5: Dubrovnik, Mount Srd

Hiking trail up to the hill

---

We decided to hike up to the small hill Srđ above Dubrovnik. Its height is only 412 metres (1,352 ft).

The hiking trail was in very bad condition, so you have to have good shoes and be careful not to twist your ankle.

You can also take a cabin car to get up there, if you want to.

Up on the hill, you will get beautiful views over the walls, the city and the Adriatic Sea.

You can also find Fort Imperial, a defensive structure built by the French in 1810 during the Napoleonic Wars.

During the Croatian Independence War 1991-1995, the fortress and the mountain played an important role in the city's defense.

On the other side of the hill you can see Bosnia and Herzegovina.
