斗鸡是中国古老的鸡种，约有两千多年的历史。斗鸡作为一种娱乐活动，早在春秋时就相当流行，传承至唐代，风靡一时，并形成了主要于清明时斗鸡的习俗。

在唐朝，斗鸡算是普及率非常高的运动，不光在民间有着大量拥趸，即便是在皇室贵族中也大受欢迎。等到北宋时期，斗鸡更进一步的发展，尤其更是那些当官人的游戏。

斗鸡，不少官商富人，喜欢养在家中，没事吃饱了饭撑得无奈，就牵着、拎着，找人开斗取乐。

斗鸡比较突出的有这样两点：首先，听豢养者口令，一声令下，勇往直前，至于为什么与人家斗，人家是否招它惹它，那它就不管了。毕竟是动物嘛，好斗是他们的天性，一日不斗，六神无主。

我们当时看的就是一位老者，抱着一只鸡进来，后来又来了一个人，带着一只鸡，互相问候之后，两只鸡便斗了起来。两只鸡表上好吗， 便于查输赢。 我记的当时斗鸡的气氛还很激烈，至于谁输谁赢，我也没管那么多， 因为毕竟就是大家取个乐子，大家开心就好。
