Aside from planning a wedding the most important decision to make when getting married is where you will spend your honeymoon. When I got married a few years ago the one thing my wife and I actually agreed on was spending our honeymoon in Hawaii. The island is remote, both of us had never been there and Hawaii suited our personalities. Besides having children or grandchildren your honeymoon will be the happiest days of your married life so enjoy and savor every second. When deciding on your honeymoon consider the island of Hawaii as your first destination as a married couple.

When I was a kid I always thought of Hawaii as the perfect location for a honeymoon. If not the perfect place to go for a honeymoon it would definitely be the best place to become a weatherman. Every day is eighty to eighty-five degrees with a breeze. I am not a beachcomber but the beaches are gorgeous with warm sand, easy access and a relaxed atmosphere. The only downfall is Hawaii can be extremely expensive. The average Hawaiian adventure can cost between six to ten thousand dollars due to the exclusiveness and the remoteness of the island. Despite the price and the distance from the main land Hawaii is guaranteed to give you memories which will last a lifetime.

When picking a honeymoon destination there are three things you and your honey should consider. The first thing to consider is picking a place neither of you have been before. I know a few couples that went to Florida and Aruba while they were dating and then revisited these locations for their honeymoon. Over the years they started to have trouble deciphering which trip was their honeymoon and which was their regular vacation. You should go somewhere you and your significant other can discover for the first time together and create memories which cannot be confused with any other trip you have been on in the past.

Secondly, pick a location that is remote. You want to pick a place which is not commonly traveled too. I recently met a guy in Disney World who visited Disney World for his honeymoon more than twenty-five years ago. The man and his wife continued to go to Disney World every year after their honeymoon because they had so much fun. Twenty-five years later he regretted spending his honeymoon in Disney World because as a couple they frequented the spot so much over the years that the honeymoon lost its meaning. The honeymoon location should be a spot you only visit on special occasions such as wedding anniversaries or babymoons. It should not be a vacation location you visit whenever you need a break.

Lastly, pick a place that suits both of your personalities. Two of my friends love to drink and go to the beach. For their honeymoon they went to an all-inclusive in Jamaica. Another friend of mine wanted to put a bunch of stamps in her passport and have a few mini vacations so her and her lover backpacked through Europe. Find what defines you as a couple and make it happen in a vacation.

Regardless what you decide your honeymoon should be used to celebrate your marriage and the start of your life together as a married couple. When deciding on a honeymoon location consider the island of Hawaii for its beauty, remoteness and unchartered territory.
