Monument to Yakovlev Ivan Yakovlevich

“Believe in Russia, love her, and she will be your mother” - these words are carved on the pedestal of the monument to Yakovlev Ivan Yakovlevich. This is a famous teacher, philanthropist, who organized and opened the Chuvash folk schools, he is a famous writer, translator, folklorist.
In addition, Yakovlev created the alphabet for the Chuvash language.
The author of the monument is the honored artist of Chuvashia and Bashkiria, sculptor V.P. Nagornov. The bronze figure of Ivan Yakovlevich, 2.6 meters high, is set on a low granite pedestal. The total weight of the monument is 6.5 tons.

The monument was installed in the park, at the intersection of September 12 and Leo Tolstoy, it is noteworthy that funds for its installation were spent not only from the budget, more than 500 ordinary citizens, about 100 enterprises and organizations of the Ulyanovsk region and the Chuvash Republic also wished to contribute.
