Going Loco in Ilocos! DarwinTheExplorer's first Adventure Part 1steemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel6 years ago

Good day Steemians! DarwinTheExplorer here! I will be taking you to another jewel of the Philippines. A place rich in culture and food. A location perfect for first time travellers. Yes! This was my first out of town trip.

And I will be touring you around in the famous destination of the north, Ilocos Norte!

Ilocos Norte is one of the four provinces in Ilocos Region. The other three are La Union, Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur. From Manila, the bus ride will take about 12 hours. It was really tiresome. We took a night trip and when we got off from the bus the following morning.

So let the adventure begin! If you're looking for a place rich in culture, Ilocos should be in your list. To start this trip, I will take you to Cape Bojeador.

A little history of this lighthouse. Cape Bojeador also known as Burgos Lighthouse is a heritage structure in Burgos, Ilocos Norte that was built during the Spanish period. It was first designed by Magin Pers y Persin 1887 and was continued by the Lighthouse service under Guillermo Brockman. The tower is shaped octagon with a bronze copula the viewing area is surrounded by decorative metal grill.

Isn't it nice to go to a place with the closest of your peers? And here are some of my best travel buddies!

Next up is this famous rock formation called Kapurpurawan Rock Formation. Kapurpurawan in Ilocano means white. Do I need to say more?

ILOCOS3.jpg

Located in the rocky coast of Burgos, Ilocos Norte, this natural rock formation is known for its creamy white limestone formation scuplted by ocean waves and weather conditions.

I was in awe when I saw these natural rock wonders. This photo should be in a travel magazine. Hehehe... :)

Ooopss... we're not yet done! Our last trip took us in this man made huge fan, the famous Bangui Wind Farm. In the area where we took some of these pictures stands 20 units of 70-meter high wind turbines. It covers a long single row stretch along a nine-kilometer shoreline off Bangui Bay.

Is it really windy there? You have to go check yourself.

That's it for now Steemians. But wait there's more! I will be posting part 2 of our Ilocos trip anytime soon. You will love more of this place when you read the second part of this blog. So stay tuned!
This is DarwinTheExplorer temporarily signing off.
