Lost in Japan

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

What's good, Steemians? This blog post is all about how I got lost in Japan's beauty. By beauty I mean its rich culture, food and scenic views. This trip was very long, but I managed to narrow down the highlights of the trip to share with you all!

I want to begin with one of Hiroshima's famous landmarks, the Itsukushima Shrine otherwise known as "Miyajima" which directly translates as "shrine island." Here is the iconic torii gate which has been seen in multiple worldwide films. This structure is unique for being built on water where it floats and gives off a majestic and serene look.

Before entering the palace, you are met with a mini pond where you are to wash your hands or as they call it "purify" yourself.

Here are some shots of the shrine:

I met kawai Japanese kids who were really friendly!

And this is me with the torii gate.

We booked the trip at April because it was the best forecast for cherry blossims, the famous Japanese plants that make you feel cheery and happy. Sure enough, we saw them bloom which lasts a short period of time.

During April, it was still cold so a thicker jacket and beanies are must-haves!

I know I said it was cold, but its never too cold for icecream!!!

I also made it to the Children's Peace Monument inspired by Sadako Sasaki who is famous for making the thousand paper cranes to fulfil a wish. This too is located in Hiroshima, in the peace memorial park. Inside the structure is a bronze crane that is designed as a bell. And below is a slab which contains the words:

これはぼくらの叫びです これは私たちの祈りです 世界に平和をきずくための
(Kore wa bokura no sakebi desu. Kore wa watashitachi no inori desu. Sekai ni heiwa o kizuku tame no).
"This is our cry, this is our prayer: for building peace in the world".

NOW ON TO FOOD!

I visited the ramen musem which had vending machines as your mode of ordering the dishes. I have only one photo, but I think even this is enough to show how good the bowl of heaven looks!

We aslo visited takoyaki balls making restaurant which was super tasty compared to the synthetic ones we have here in the Philippines.

And a restaurant where we eat infront of the chefs cooking us okonomiyakis or japanese pancakes! Made out of noodles and eggs. It was just HEAVEN!

And lastly, this is my photo with the most majestic Mt. Fuji!

And that is it, guys! Japan is a great country with very hospitable people. There we found so many electric toilet bowls that even make sounds while you try to do your stuff so that you won't feel too shy! Yes, I'm serious. Hahaha! Anyways, hope you enjoyed reading this.

I just want to add that all photos are mine! And taken by yours truly.

'Till my next post, folks!

So many experiences! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I will get to Japan one day. I'd love to see the cherry blossoms

So glad you dropped by! Don't forget to blog about it when you do! Cheers! :)

Ahaha we've loved our time in JApan as well! Such a beautiful country, so different to our western culture. I laughed when I read about the electric toilet as we spent about 15min on arrival at the airport trying to the toilets, we were so long trying all the different options that when we arrived to collect our bags, our bags were started to be treated as suspect because we hadn't collected them yet lol!

Oh my gosh! That is so funny! The toilet bowls were amusing aren't they? Ahh, gotta love Japan!

Yes they are ahaha lol
