Tomashevo

in #travel5 years ago

I continue to travel to the most remote corners of the Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region. At this time, the choice fell on the village Tomashevo, which is located in the Orlovo rural settlement. Roughly speaking, in terms of geographical location, Tomashevo is located between the South and Luza rivers on the border of the Kirov region. From Veliky Ustyug this settlement is at distance of 80 km.

Tomashevo can be reached in two ways: the first path lies through the large village of Ust-Alekseevo and the center of the rural settlement the village of Chernevo along the Ustyug–Podosinovets road, in the second case you can drive along the forest road through the village Pervomayskoye, turning off the Ustyug–Luza road. But the fact is that there is an obstacle in both ways - this is a river. In the second case there are even two of them: the Northern Dvina river is also added. This all means that during the period of ice drift, freeze-up and flood, Tomashevo and the rest of the villages of Orlovo rural settlement are cut off from the mainland. Only at the beginning or even in the middle of June a pontoon ferry is established. Ferries do not go here.

But despite all the difficulties, food is delivered to the stores on time and in full, and people in a difficult period are transported by boat.

Tomashevo can be divided into two parts. The new part of the village is built up with shield barracks and new private houses. It is located on a small hill.

Here begins the village.

In winter, the roads are good everywhere...or there are none at all.

The bus goes here once a week.

Nevertheless, kind and sympathetic people live here. Women - participants of the folk ensemble "Willows".

The second part of Tomashevo is located just below and is a semi-abandoned village.

Half of the houses are completely abandoned, and some of them are simply closed for the winter.

Village Tomashevo has an ancient history.

Old houses here have different types, from small boxes to large pyatistanok.

The ideal location of houses in a staggered manner, where each of them is viewed from a nearby street.

Local architectural design.

Although the village is big enough, even dogs do not run on the streets.

Colorful backyard.

It is difficult to say how comfortable it is here, since I did not have enough time to feel the atmosphere of this place. It seems may be good...but something was not enough.

Maybe there was not enough communication with the locals?

Fields are overgrown with young. Far away are the houses of the neighboring village of Kurdenga.

And here is the local peculiarity - wired by spline lined attic.

In Tomashevo there is only one shop, the other two are closed.

House of Culture.

I need to go to Tomashevo in the summer because I didn’t have enough time to understand this village, to feel the atmosphere and to love it. But the potential is there!
