Our trip is almost upon us: Two Aussies wander the world

in #travel6 years ago

My wife and I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel; We work hard to have the means to travel, abroad and within Australia, and look forward to every trip, large or small. There's something special about travelling; The new experiences, sights and sounds, cultures to explore and people to meet.

I took this image in Monte Carlo; In Casino Square to be exact, which is a small garden area right in front of Casino de Monte-Carlo. This sculpture sits in the middle of the square and if you look carefully in the reflection you will see the casino itself. My poor photography doesn't really do it justice however it was a special moment. I'd grown up with images of Monte Carlo beamed in by TV during Formula One races and to be honest I never thought I'd get there. Finally, many years later I did, and with my favourite person too; My wife. It was a special moment for us with the indelible memories being imprinted in our minds. We have travelled extensively and never apart except one trip where I flew over to Papua New Guinea to trek the Kokoda Track. We travel well together with no arguments or disagreements; I think that's due to the length of time we have been together and a lot of mutual respect. We have similar interests and have the respect to support each other if one wants to do or see a particular thing and the other doesn't. Give and take is what it is I guess.

In 36 hours from now we'll be embarking on our next adventure and we are really keen. For a few weeks people have been asking me if I'm excited and I haven't really been able to truthfully say yes however now it's getting real. The bags are packed and boarding passes printed and only work on Friday stands in the way. My wife is still working right now, (10:00pm Thursday night) however she will be home shortly and she's not working Friday. I don't know how it worked out like that but I'll get my ass to work Friday and do my duty. We are travelling via Singapore to the United Kingdom and then Finland and heading home about 6 weeks later and have a lot of things planned. The image here shows us at Versailles where we were bike rising around the gardens a few years ago. A rare photo of me without a beard too! (What was I thinking? I look like a muppet.) We had a great time that day, the Versailles gardens are amazing and we had a pretty sweet picnic of local produce, purchased at a local market, right by the Grand Canal. Good times, with more to come this trip!

I am intending to post on steemit when I can so my followers [who actually read my posts] may like to follow us on the journey. I will probably only post holiday snaps with minimal text as I would rather be out there living life than writing text however am keen to share some images if I get some good ones. So, I hope some of you follow along and comment as you see fit on my posts.

Packed it, along with my duckface pout.

Whoooo damn dats nasty

You sound like my wife now.

Woooooo so close!! I pray that tomorrow’s work will graciously allow a hasty departure so you can spend time with your wife making those last moment checks. So exciting and the weekend seems like it will be a nice day for flying. Happy travels I’m looking forward to your travel posts.

Hope you both have an awesome and safe holiday. Hope to see some post from your travels away.

I'll get some posts up for sure. Thanks for your message. :)

You have a very long trip, but you deserve a holiday, so enjoy it! Very lovely photos :)

Thank's @hanen, yes we work hard for what we have and do and so feel vindicated to take the time to experience life in the way we do. It should be a good trip which we are both really looking forward to. I've got about 2 hours of work left and then it's holiday time!

Enjoy your Holiday! I will be waiting for your next post to see if they scanned you in the airport :P

Wow. I've never had a vacation for six weeks. I would think it would be very hard to get back to work, since it always was for me just after two weeks of being away. I've taken work with me a time or two while on vacation, too, which actually worked out miraculously well one of the times, considering I needed an internet connection from a cafe to work long enough to get newspaper files up to the office server. I was in Puerto Vallarta, the server was in Oregon. :)

My wife and I have been good travelers with each other, too, for the most part. We both enjoy it. The most fun we had together, by ourselves, was on a trip to Cancun. I got to show her ruins I'd toured years before with a friend while she visited family near Mexico City. It was fun because I got act as a tour guide, though, it had been almost two decades since I'd been down there.

Oh, and I think you look good without the beard. I guess it's all about our own personal perceptions isn't it?

Yeah, it's a long time I guess. Previously 5 weeks was the longest however I don't really have trouble acclimatising back into work; It's getting myself back TO work that's the hardest. It sounds like you had a great trip to Cancun...Never been there myself. Not yet anyway.

No beard, no good is what most of my mates would say. :) Thanks for the compliment though.

You two must be so excited! Enjoy your days work today mate, then it’s off and away 🛫

Thanks mate, yes, only a couple of hours of work now and then I'm out! :)

Oh yeah, design and create your ideal life, don’t live it by default. I saw that! Envying you guys.

G'day or evening mate. So I'm a little behind in time here and hope all is well and under way. Do keep us up to speed with those photos and hope you guys have a blast. Awesome to have such an amazing bond with your partner which makes these fruits of your labour even more tasty.

The Monte Carlo pic is good enough man and you don't look that bad without a beard, my wife thinks I look terrible without a beard so these days I don't look like the four year old photo that's on my profile, I'll update.

I'm excited for you and wish you guys all the very best. Pics pics pics

greetings bro look very beautiful together, eager to see his tour published, enjoy your trip. successes

Cheers mate.
