Taking The Train To The Salt Mines

During Steemfest last year one of the organised trips was to the Salt Mines at Wieliczka. Fortunately, since I'd visited them before, I'd thoroughly enjoyed my first trip and so wasn't too disappointed that I was going to be making a return visit.

There were a couple of differences the Steemfest time however. Not least that I got to sit next to the infamous famous @abh12345 on the coach which returned us to Krakow. Always a pleasure! 😍

Another difference was, the first time around we took a local train from Krakow to the Wieliczka Salt Mines which was a bit more of an adventure than being driven there in a coach.

Using local public transport in a foreign country, especially when you add a different language to the experience can be a bit of a challenge. But, for us anyway, it was great fun.

It took a while to work out which train and which platform we needed to be on but we got there in the end. And this was our train.

On our return, getting out of the station also proved to be a bit of a challenge! Eventually we discovered we had to walk around the building rather than through it! 😁

Many of the photographs in those posts are also from the first trip since, the Steemfest time, we weren't taken to the part that has all the white wooden beams, nor did we go down as far, nor did we go to the museum bit.

So, if you were on the Steemfest trip and enjoyed the mines and are planning a return trip to Krakow there's a load of stuff you didn't see, so it would be worth going back. 😁
