Oh man tell me about it! After experiencing all sorts of "pay less get more" destinations as I call them New York City just seems like such a horrible deal for living. You have to pay a fortune for an average life in a concrete jungle, or be rich. I know you're in Chiang Mai, that has to be on of the best bang for your buck places to live on the planet! Love it there, and I may be visiting again this winter. How long have you lived there for?

You certainly picked a great place to be. I'm now in Lima Peru with my new girlfriend. She is from France. She is quitting her job, getting invested in Bitcoin, gold, silver, mining stocks, crossing her fingers and traveling the world with me! So that is what is new with me. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Hope you are well, and would love to meet up in Thailand if I head north. Have a great day! -Dan

well when i am in NYC and i am trying to keep costs down there is one solution! Those amazing slices of pizza are 1 or 2 dollars on just about every street!

If you head north I should be here although i am eyeing up Vietnam since the visas are so easy there. Shame i spent all this time learning a language that isn't useful anywhere outside this country!

Wow! Totally impressed that you even took on learning Thai. That is no easy task.

Exactly I had about 4 slices of pizza that day as I walked around Manhatten. So so good!

I prefer Thailand over Vietnam personally.

Where in Vietnam are you thinking if you don't mind me asking. I've got friends that swear on Hanoi, but I'm a more laid back beach going type and I recall Mue Nae being pretty good.

I'm currently planning on getting a 60 day tourist visa for Thailand then extending it another 30 days and have myself a visa-run-free time in Thailand for the months of Nov, Dec, and January.

I heard they are discouraging people from doing Visa Runs now and people are getting rejected at points of entry and it's causing some major problems. Have you heard this to be the case as well?

Forgot if I asked you before, are you going to steemfest in Bangkok since you are so close to begin with? If so I'll certainly see you there. Otherwise I'll see if I can catch you in Chiang Mai later on.

Have a great day! -Dan

I also prefer Thailand to Vietnam and a big part of the reason for that is that I am relatively fluent in Thai and don't even know how to say "hello" in Vietnamese.... I don't think i have it in me to learn another impossible Asian language - especially "one country" languages.

Visa runs pretty much don't exist anymore man, don't make that part of your plan. your 60-day visa can be extended in the country at any immigration office for 1900 B, but this is a one-time deal. After that you will not get any more extensions and will likely be denied another tourist visa if you leave the country to obtain one immediately after the fact.

I looked at Hanoi but it is far too crazy and crowded for me. I have my sights on Danang at the moment as it is a medium sized city and apparently the beach is well looked after.

Fluent in Thai! Sawadi Kop! What a challenge that must have been. Yeah, I wouldn't want to take on any more languages for the rest of my life after the headaches I had learning Spanish. Now fluent in it, I'm quite pleased having Spain, all of Latin America covered, and lets not leave out south Florida covered! lol But a one language country is not bad if you plan to make your home there.

I did a tour of Vietnam about 7 years ago now, mostly from Danang South. I liked Nah Trang better personally but they are both good options. I agree, Like Ho Chi Minh in the South; the Smaller Hanoi as well is simply "too much" for me also.

Thanks for confirming that Thailand has gotten strict with their visa runs and sharing about the visa/extension info. Very much appreciated!

I Certainly enjoy our back and forth conversation here. We seem to have a lot in common, main difference is I just can't seem to stay in one place! haha

Hope you are having a great day! -Dan
