#SouthAfrica: Travel tips and things you can do in #CapeTown, #Durban and #Johannesburg

in #travel6 years ago

WE all want that amazing international holiday, and yet, most of us South Africans barely make ends meet and have to keep postponing that dream getaway.

THERE ARE FEW THINGS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN A SOUTH AFRICAN SUNRISE, BUT STILL -

You’d love to be loafing about on a beach in Cabo while sipping on your tequila sunrise. Maybe you’d prefer to hike through Machu Pichu and collect ‘memories’ instead of things. Perhaps you’d like to experience history like never before and jet off to Turkey.

Maybe you can’t do any of these things and aren't as lucky as @czechglobalhosts.

But if your budget is just right and you aren’t working yourself to death, we have you covered with some awesome places you can visit, right here in beautiful South Africa. (Trending in SA: https://steemit.com/trending/southafrica )

On my personal list of holiday hot-spots, coming in at number one has got to be Cape Town.

There are hundreds of things you can do on a budget in Cape Town.

Option one has you visiting Table Mountain National Park and could cost you as little as R25 per adult.

Option two has you taking a tour of Robben Island at R340 per adult.

And we all know – option three – that if you are heading to Cape Town, you are going to be tasting some wine.

We can’t give you any fees on this option, but we can give you a pointer on which farm to try out.

According to www.capetown.travel, Steenberg, which just so happens to be the Cape’s first farm, is definitely one people should visit. Steenberg was established in 1682 and produces an amazing Sauvignon Blanc.

You better hit up Durban which is in second place.

Many South Coast locals will tell you, ‘Durban is the place to be.’

We have the best curry, we have the second best lifestyle – yes, Cape Town still beats us somehow – but we’re fun and outgoing people with an awesome sense of humour.

Oh wait, Cape Town doesn’t actually beat us. According to Northglen News (a local newspaper owned and run by Caxton), Durban is officially the best place to live in South Africa – go figure. Even better is the fact that Durban got ranked 88th out of the 150 global cities surveyed.

Look at us Durbanites waffling on about Durban – eish.

Things you can do in our super amazing part of the world include going to uShaka Marine World.

You get to enjoy the entire park and get in a little splash as a family of four for just under R800 – prices are however subject to change, so we cannot guarantee that.

Now, if you are a thrill seeker and enjoy not being able to sleep for three days – then bungee jumping is your thing and I'm willing to bet self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie @inferno4201 can back me up here.

You can get your all expenses paid trip to three sleepless nights as a result of way too much adrenaline at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The stadium’s Big Rush Big Swing was also officially named the world’s highest swing by the Guinness Book of Records since 14 May 2011.

Coming in at third place as a must visit, is Johannesburg.

( Check out this great article by @lottiegross - A visual tour of Johannesburg, South Africa: https://steemit.com/travel/@lottiegross/a-visual-tour-of-johannesburg-south-africa )

For free, yes that’s right, you get to visit the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens.

The entire area is made up of six different garden areas and even – if you are thinking about popping the question – has a wedding venue which, believe it or not, is not only one of the most beautiful wedding venues, but also one of Johannesburg’s most affordable wedding venues.

The JBG offers many activities which range from bird watching, to canoeing, fishing, jogging and walking.

Now, if none of the above tickle your fancy then you should definitely visit Gold Reef City, which has its own casino – hence you winning the jackpot and going on that dream holiday destination you’ve always wanted to – be it France, Italy, Slovenia, Austria or even Soweto.

Just FYI, the slots at their casino paid out a total of R155,042.00 in the last 24-hours as at May, 15, 10.45am – #JustSaying.
