Bzenec castle - Czech Republic (South Moravia)

in #travel6 years ago

Dear Steemit friends!

Recently we had a great day with my family and we visited the old Bzenec castle.

In the town of Bzenec in the Hodonín region in the South Moravian Region lies the extensive pseudo-Gothic castle Bzenec. The castle is not open to public but visitors can explore the nearby English park, there is a very old lime, Bzenecká lime. Its age is estimated for more than 1000 years.

The castle is a four-winged two-storey building with corner polygonal towers. There is a terraced garden along with the park. Currently it serves the chateau complex of wine factories, which also use extensive Renaissance cellars under the castle. Wedding ceremonies are also held in the chateau.

From history:

On the place of today's castle was originally a fortified late Gothic fortress with a moat and a wall. This was gradually rebuilt during the 16th century to a Renaissance chateau. The chateau was rebuilt in Baroque style in the years 1709-1710 according to the design by architect Domenic Martinelli at the time when he was the owner of the Bzenec estate of Earl Erdman of Pruskov. In the 1950s, the chateau was completely demolished and a new castle in the style of English Gothic was built in 1853-1855.

Thanks for the pictures! I've never been in that castle. Thank you for telling me about him . Czech Republic I really like! @ivet

c respect, @singa

What a noble looking castle! I love medieval European architecture, but we don't have anything like this in Thailand, mostly old temples, which are beautiful as well. Have a wonderful day!

Krásný zámek. Zasloužil by trochu renovaci.
