We did the hike as well about 5 years ago. The day before the hike, a friendly guy tried to sell warm hats to us. Because it was hot during the day, we did not understand why, but because he was so nice, we bought two hats.
The early morning of the hike, we were so happy with our hats because it was really cold.

Good call. It did get damn cold in the night. Often mountains like that have huge temperature ranges from bitterly cold nights to sweltering hot days. I hope I brought some memories back for you!
