In Which We Visit the Augustinerkirche

Vienna is easily one of my favorite places in the world. One of the many reasons I love it to much is the sheer number of amazing churches there are!

This is ultimately one of the simpler ones, but the Augustinerkirche has such an incredibly detailed altar screen that I couldn't resist. This particular church was originally built in the 14th century during the Hapsburg dynasty. In fact, the Hapsburgs are buried in the crypt beneath the church.

Among its "claims to fame," Napoleon married Archduchess Marie Louise in this church in 1810, and Franz Schubert composed a mass there.
