It's About Thaime For Food

Thai Food
I don't know about all of you, but one of my favorite parts of traveling is eating my way through the countries. Their is something so fantastic about how food can transport you. One bite from a piece of fresh fruit and you can feel like your on a beach in Bali. A big bowl of chowder and your in Maine on a chilly day at the coast. But if your already their then theirs no need for that mental transportation you just get to sit back and enjoy every last bite.

Thai food has always been one of my favorite foods around. I could eat a bowl of curry any day of the week or a heaping plate of chili paste fried rice. So being able to travel to Thailand I was thrilled with the thought of thai food all day everyday. When your in Thailand I would say get out of your comfort zone and try everything even if you don't know what it is. It may surprise you as to what you will like. For instance who would have thought one of my favorite snacks would be from the 7Eleven. A Pork and Sweet Cream toasty. It sounds a little weird probably to a few of you, but I can honestly say its better then most on the run sandwiches you'll get. Ironically 7Eleven in general is a great place to grab some snacks when your in Thailand.

Street food in Thailand is a big thing. From little stalls on the corners to massive walking markets with anything and everything imaginable... theirs no chance you'll go hungry. Do you like meat on a stick? No? Yes? Maybe? Im sure the thought is a bit strange, but give the weird looking round balls of meat a chance and you'll probably find it quite delicious. Quickly heated in a flash fry of oil and topped with a spicy chili sauce, and you have a magical moment of taste bud explosion. Personally I have always been more on the picky side when it comes to food so if I enjoy some of the weird shit here I'm sure you will to!

Aside from trying new and strange street foods, enjoying a meal at a sit down restaurant can be equally as gratifying. If you haven't tried curry your missing out. Their are so many different types to choose from... their has to be one for everybody! My favorite is Massaman... which is more of hearty savory curry with potatoes and peanuts. It has such a lovely aroma and the flavor is equally as wonderful. Pair it with a steaming bowl of rice and your sure to drool before it even hits tour tongue. Another fantastic choice is the Green curry. Green curry is more on the spicy side when it comes to thai curry. Its perfect after a fun night out with friends, and you just want to clean your system out and feel refreshed.

Have you heard of Pineapple fried rice? Its quite the treat being served in the pineapple itself. The Fried rice is tossed in a multitude of seasonings that make it quite aromatic and then the addition of pineapple chunks just takes it to a whole new level! With the addition of chicken, beef, or seafood you can tailor it best to your likings. Pair this meal with a Mojito and a beach view and id say you'll be perfectly satisfied. Maybe rice sounds a little heavy and a nice soup is in order. Kao Soi is the perfect solution to this. It is a noodle soup in a coconut cream curry broth with crunchy and soft noodles. Its bursting with flavor, give it a squeeze of lime and add some chili paste to it. The next thing you know your already finished with this glorious meal. Kao Soi is more common to the northern region of Thailand but still can be found in most other areas of the country.

Now every good meal should end with a dessert. Mango is a great sweet treat that can be made into some fantastic desserts. My favorite and a very simple way to dress up mango is Mango Sticky Rice. Basically it is sliced mango pieces with a warm sweet sticky rice and some coconut milk to pour over top. Not to much to it right? Though it seems plane it is quite delicious. Does that not sound sweet enough for you? Well thats okay because most all the street markets have people making Crepes. Sweet crepe batter smothered with fruit and vanilla cream, and topped with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream! If that doesn't sound like the sugar blast you need then I don't know what to tell you. Of course their are many different varieties to choose from so the options can feel almost endless. ( Side Note: I haven't had a bad crepe, Photo below is proof)

Their is so much of the world to travel and explore. I can not wait to be able to go and experience as many places as I can, and eat my way across the world. So for my final thoughts... always try something new even if it scares you. Don't be afraid of the weird meat on a stick, and always have dessert.
Eat well and enjoy!
