Valpolicella - the wine subregion in Italy, is a series of valleys in the western part of the Venice area, bordered by hills and the Adige River. Soils are diverse - from red clay to white calcium.
Grapes
Autochthonous red grape varieties (Korvina, Rondinella, Molinara) are grown here, which are almost never found anywhere else.
The main variety is Corvina with dark berries with thick skin. Corvinus gives the wines a special tannin and a rich aroma with notes of cherry. Its share in the assembly of Valpolicella wines ranges from 40 to 70%.
Another variety, which in this region is important - Rondinella. Rondinella berries are also brightly colored, but less fragrant than Corvina. The share of Rondinella in the Valpolicella wine can reach 40%.
The third grade is Molinara - it is a very fragrant and acidic variety.
