Postal Services Standard mail in the UK is handled by the Royal Mail. There are main post offices providing all postal services in every London district, as well as many smaller sub-post offices attached to newsstands and other small
shops – these can handle all normal mail. Main post offices are usually open from 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, and to 12:30pm on Saturday. Trafalgar Square Post Office has extended hours: 8am–8pm Monday to Saturday. Post offices also exchange money and handle international money transfers.
Mail within the UK can be sent first or second class. First class costs a little more and is faster.
Stamps can be bought from post offices or any shop with a “Stamps sold here” sign.
Newsstands usually sell them, but may only have UK first- and second-class stamps, so for international mail you may needto find a post office. Hotels nearly always sell stamps, and larger ones may have mailboxes.
Public mailboxes come in different shapes and sizes – some are sunk into walls – but are always red (easy to spot!!!), and can be found throughout the city. There are several pick-up times each day, these times are indicated on the mailbox.

UK Postal Service works fast and efficiently. A letter to Russia goes 2 weeks.
It's incredible feeling to get a post card from London with british stamps!

Red Mail Pillar Boxes are iconic. They are one of symbols of the UK.
Since medieval times, London has had large expanses of green. London is the city of green and the UK a country of green. Parks, parks, parks...
But the unforgettable red spots like mail boxes are the best reminder of London!
