1950年，宋美齡從美國回來，與蔣中正定居於官邸。官邸包括官舍、招待所、凱歌堂、慈雲亭四處，在戒嚴的年代，這裡是國家權力的中心，是蔣中正運籌國事、招待外賓、虔敬上帝、居家生活的場域。
