A digital nomad family

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians, Happy Sunday! I'm Lee and I'm lucky enough to travel the world with my beautiful wife Corrine, our 2 year old daughter Ricki, and our 2 dogs, Stewie & Ruby :)
We like to think of ourselves of digital nomads traveling the world as global citizens, leaving only footprints and only taking memories of the places we have lived. We started in the UK 13 years ago, and we haven't stopped yet, covering Australia, several years in Thailand, a year in Cambodia and nowadays we're chilling on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Gozo (Malta)
Corrine and I fund our adventures as online English teachers, so as long as we have a good internet connection, and a functioning laptop, we can be anywhere we choose to be...and now we're falling in love with the idea of blockchain technology and looking forward to giving Ricki a better future and the opportunity to escape the institutions that enslave so many of us.
We love to dance, make music and spend lazy days at the beach chasing the waves and being together because 'time together' is our happy time :) OBB.jpg

Hey Lee! great into and fabulous shot! Must have been taken some time ago as I can still see the Azure Window there :) Glad to meet another fellow nomad Steemian :) Good luck on Steemit!

Well spotted @phortun we lost the window last year! Thank you it's great to be here, still finding my feet but loving the vibe! :)

I know, I lived on Gozo too :) Spent 6 months in Marsalforn in 2014. I wrote that in the reply to you in the new discord group but I think I didnt tag you right so you probably missed that message... never mind, I will keep an eye on your blog ;) Cheers!

I did see your message but didn't have the chance to reply sorry! We've been here for nearly 3 years now and to be honest we're ready for a change, what did you think of Gozo?

Hey Lee, bit late in the welcoming but really glad to find you guys, we're a family of 5 living in our truck, we have been nomad but having an extended pause in Spain. Hoping to get back on the road soon. Really great to connect with ye on here.

Hi @trucklife-family I am sooooo jealous our long term ambition is to continue our travels in a campervan. We'll be in Valencia and Andalusia in March and April if you're around? We would love to see the truck!! :)

cool we're in Andalusia, in the alpujarra mountains keep in touch and let me know if you come this way x

That sounds like a plan! :)

My husband and I have been traveling together for the last 5 years, and hope to have kids one day and have just recently decided that we will never stop traveling even when we are ready have kids. We believe traveling is such a great way to educate and raise children. Very inspirational! Thanks for sharing. Safe travels.

Hey @wanderlustlama sorry for my late reply, but we're on the road again! We've just spent 6 days traveling from Valencia to Andalusia in Spain camping and staying in Air BnB's having a ball. Today we're meeting a new group of homeschoolers/worldschoolers for a beach party, definitely the best and easiest way to make new friends and get the lowdown for a next adventure...relocating to Andalusia! Ricki makes meeting people much more fun, and she has the amazing ability of keeping us in the present :) You should check out the Steemit travellers discord channel, a great group of fellow travelers helping each other out;

Be happy & smile often my friend :) x

So happy to see other Digital Nomads on Steemit... WELCOME!! If you like we can connect via our Discord Digital Nomads group via the link in our BIO. Hope to see you there!!!

Thank you! Looking for the link now much appreciated :)

I've been wanting to try the digital nomad life for a while now- it'll have to wait until I finish university, but I'm planning for it!

Welcome to Steemit! It's got a steep learning curve, but it's worth it in the long run if you keep putting in the time! Just know that it will take quite a while before you start getting attention and followers. The secret to success? Keep posting high quality content regularly, and make sure to search out other people's posts, read them, and give relevant comments.

Tagging is extremely important. Always make sure to use all five possible tags, and to keep them relevant. You can always just tag something "blog" or "photography" or something else really general (so long as it's still relevant) to fill the quota if you need to- most of your tags should be established ones, though one or two less used ones are fine.

Posting more than four times a day can reduce your potential rewards, as well as turning off potential users. (I aim for one post per day most of the time.) Consistency is important, though, so you should try to post often.

Always make sure to attach a photo to your posts! You should also have a finished profile: Write a description, add a profile picture and a banner- neither needs to be of you, necessarily, but you should have something- and set a website.

There are a lot of really good resources out there for minnows (new users). You should check out the following groups and services, they offer a lot of valuable resources to new users:

@thesteemengine (Check this one out first- they're an extremely supportive group.)
@qurator (These guys offer an excellent liftime upvote to accounts that post consistent quality content.)
@originalworks (Whenever you write an original post, tag this account- they'll verify it's original and upvote you.)
@steembasicincome (Another lifetime upvote option.)
@steemstem (The biggest and best STEM curation group in the game. If you're interested in writing or reading about science, check these guys out!)
@geopolis (A fairly new science curation group, this one's dedicated to the study of the Earth.)

And, again, the biggest thing is just patience. Breakout successes are incredibly rare on Steemit- you've got to find your way there through perseverance and hard work. It takes time, but you'll eventually succeed if you put in the work.

Please feel free to repost this guide on the posts of other minnows you run into!

The @OriginalWorks bot has determined this post by @lumpa to be original material and upvoted it!
