LET'S TALK! (in your language)

in #travel6 years ago

Today I talk about the magic of speaking to someone in their own language, even if you don't understand it...

Very true man. The same is true in China. If I were to just start talking to Chinese people in English, they may feel embarrassed or defensive. People don't want to lose face by not knowing what you're talking about so they won't want to talk to you. On the other hand, if you speak to them in Chinese (even super simple Chinese) they will be much more open to helping you and will praise your Chinese (even if it sucks).

great vlog friend, congratulations!

The street you walk is so quiet. Where is everybody?

Thats a Sunday morning in North Tokyo! Very quiet..

when In Rome, do as the romans. I believe that it is important to adjust to your surroundings, because humans are products of their environment. Being in Japan must be awesome, cool vlog dude.

Thank you, yes it's the best being here!

What is your take on the continuing erosion of native languages?

And how do you deal with "language bias"? (Like steemit/busy.org requiring tags to only be in typed using the Western European allphabet?)

Speaking as a stupid American who can only speak English pretty much... I feel i am unable to properly answer either of these questions..

I WILL say that every day I am thankful that English is my first language - because of the rate it is spoken in the world - even a little - by people I would be otherwise unable to communicate with..
