Trekking From Chamonix To Zermatt - Walkers Haute Route - Day 4steemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel6 years ago

Our 4-th day of trekking started in small town, called Champex-Lac. We expected a nice and easy day for us, because there wasn't any mountain pass on our way today and we took andvantage of it, spending some hours for roaming in town. Our first stop was a beach on the shore of the lake. Don't get too surprised, if I reveal a name of this lake - Lac du Champex...

After the fast dipping in almost ice-cold water, we just walked around on the streets and enjoyed surroundings. Champex-Lac is very lovely small town in Swiss Alps:

We started our trek 2,5 hours late, at 10:30 AM. The weather was really hot, but this didn't worry us. The first half of the route was nice walk between alpine pastures and meadows:

Have you ever heard the sound of a cowbell in Swiss Alps? You really should hear it at least once in your life, preferably in Switzerland! But fortunately we heard it again and again on the rest of our trekking days to Zermatt.

For the change to pastures and meadows, there were also small villages. The best thing about them were cool shadows for resting and constantly flowing tap water.

The second part of the trail went mostly through the forest, offering us finally opportunity to have a lunch in the shadow, before finishing the course today:

At this moment we didn't know it yet, but after the lunch we had only 2,5 km to go. We planned to walk a little longer, but fortunately we found a very nice place for wild camping next to quarry. The only problem was, there were many noisy machines working, but we still took a chance by logic. And our logic didn't fail, some time between 5-6 PM all the machines stopped.

We had very eventful evening in this camp. The first thing after hot summer day was swimming and the water was really warm, not as usual in alpine lake. Secondly, me and one of my group member walked to town for shopping. From Le Chable we got back with some beer, wine and chips, surprising the rest of our team! And that still wasn't all yet, there started some water skiing on the quarry... So we were drinking beer/wine, eating chips and enjoying the show :P

Our 13,7 km walking in 5 hours was a good reason to get to sleep soon and some of us slept under bare starshine as usually on this hike:

Thanks for your time, I hope you enjoyed!

Man, those meadows make me feel as if you were in "The Sound of Music" :D Imagine all those trekkers dancing and singing around the meadows, haha!

Yes, "The Sound of Music" was also shot in Alps and we discussed it many times on our way ;)
