Aswalkanta is a popular Hindu sanctuary arranged on the bank of the forceful River Brahmaputra, in the locale of kamrup in Assam. The sanctuary is arranged close to the capital of Assam, Guwahati, and is a celebrated visitor spot in the territory.
The sanctuary is arranged by the bank of relentless Brahmaputra. There are two sanctuaries in that sacred place. One arranged in the foot slope and the other in the up slope - Kurmayanardan and Anantasayi by name. Where the sanctuaries were assembled holds hindo legendary significance. Folklore says that while Lord Krishna looked for Narakasur to execute him, his steed got worn out in this place.This is the means by which this place was named Aswa-Klanta.
Aswa signifies 'Steed' and Klanta signifies 'Tired' in Assamese. As indicated by another legend, ponies had a place with Arjun, the incomparable Pandava and companion of Krishna, were induced in this place to remain over from the better scene so Abhimanyu could get executed. What's more, later it progressed toward becoming Aswaklanta in prevalent dialect. The sanctuary was harmed in the extraordinary earth shudder of Assam in 1897.
