Travel With Me #4: There Where The Power Is!

in #travel6 years ago

place of power.jpg

It was the day we woke up at the earliest time compared to all other days.
At 5:30 AM the alarm did his job and pushed us out of our dreams. You know how hard it is especially if you went to bed late the day before.

It was necessary because at 7 Am we needed to be at a meeting point near Time Square. I was already excited about this day. Visiting places I often see in movies and series. Everything was set up. All devices were charged and the power bank was ready, a coffee at Starbucks and we were good to go.

With the bus, it took us about 3.5 hours to reach Washington.
After halfway down the track, we made a stop for about 30 minutes. Time to have breakfast, and going to the toilet.

During the road, our female guide told us a bit about New York and the US in general. For example, she said to us that if you want to live in Manhatten, you need to prove that you earn 14x of your rent per year.
Living in Manhatten is really expensive, and I can testify it.

Because of that many people live in New Jersey which is far more affordable and it's not far away from New York. Even people are coming from Baltimore which is about 1,5 hours away and the Hotspot when it comes to car import and export. All cars a shipped to Baltimore and from there they are forwarded to their final destinations in the US.

We passed the Pentagon which is the ninth most colossal building in the world, and soon we reached our first destination.

Arlington National.jpg

This is a unique cemetery. Our guide told us that only people who served the land in a specific way are allowed to be buried there. Its a great and last honor for many people who lost their lives. I had some reverent moments there.

JFK, for example, is also buried there. Let me show you some pictures guys.

From there we moved with the bus to our next destination. A place from where we had two more exciting sights.

Abraham Lincoln Memorial.jpg

Through the park, we went to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial and you could also see already the Washington monument. But there was a funny thing.

Some squirrels came so close to us or better to say to my wife that she could touch them. Surely it was looking for food. I saw that never before. Look at this picture.

Standing before the Abraham Lincoln monument was massive. This building is fantastic, and you have a perfect view to the Washington monument. And many scenes in series and movies are shot at this place or to say that this location is rebuilt. For example the series Scandal. Dou you know that series?

It was a great place to take some pictures, and I took some have a look.

Awesome isn't it?

Lincoln Memorial Facts

  1. The Lincoln Memorial is an American national monument built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.

  2. The building is in the form of a Greek Doric temple and contains a large seated sculpture of Abraham Lincoln and inscriptions of two well-known speeches by Lincoln, "The Gettysburg Address" and his Second Inaugural Address.

  3. The memorial has been the site of many famous speeches, including Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, delivered on August 28, 1963, during the rally at the end of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.

After that, we had a little break. It was so hot on this day, and I was not dressed properly for that. As you can see. A short would have been better. We ate something and head directly to the next destination.

capitol.jpg

Let me tell you something about Washington.
The city is worthy to be the capital. You smell that power is there. The city is so clean, and the people there are different from new yorkers which are not a surprise in my opinion.

And the capitol is like other buildings impressive. For me the building number one in Washington.

Take a look.

United States Capitol Facts

  1. The United States Capitol, often called the Capitol Building, is the home of the United States Congress, and the seat of the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government.

  2. For several decades, beginning when the federal government moved to Washington in the fall of 1800, the Capitol building was used for Sunday religious services as well as for governmental functions.

There was one thing missing. One word. You know it guys. You would be stupid not to visit that place when you are the first time in DC.

The white house.jpg

Our guide told us that in movies we see only the Hollywood side. But the other site is where the whole business happens. Actually, I thought there would be more police forces in front of the white house, but it was not so.

Our guide told us that Donald Trump was not present in the White House at that moment but on his way back.
When we went back, we saw a long row of black cars. The Secret Service. But not in the intensity you see in movies :D

I couldn't make many pictures but this one I like.

The White House 4.jpg

I think I have not tell you much about the white house. Just few facts at the end.

White House Facts

  1. The residence was designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban[2] in the neoclassical style.
After that, it went back to New York thoroughly exhausted of this day. But this was one of the best.

  2. The building was originally variously referred to as the "President's Palace", "Presidential Mansion", or "President's House" The earliest evidence of the public calling it the "White House" was recorded in 1811.

Thanks for reading guys. That was my day in Washington DC. A great day!

It is an awesome experience. When you are there one time you should visit these places.

At the white house, there are still more policemen there but hidden in the trees..........i know i watched too much movies. Lol
I have a question, how did you manage to be the only person in the capitol and white house pics ?

Haha, good question my friend ^^.
In the capitol picture, it was a short window we used to make that picture and it worked.
In the white house picture it's a different case. There I used a photomanipulation technique. I was not standing there; it was not allowed to stand there 😁

hahahahaah, ouuuuhhh ok i get it know. But they are all amazing really!

They are very cool photos ... I loved the capitol and the white house ... how good you could take photos of those places. Here in my country is not allowed and if you do, they take your camera ... (well you know that the current government prohibits many things ...) and although you do not believe it, my favorite photo was that of the squirrel ... hahaha ... so tender. I've always wanted to touch one. I love the animals. (once again thanks for your vote :-)

HAha believe me. That is also my favorite picture 🤣 I love it!

Washington DC is such a beautiful place. The popular white House is awesome. I have always wanted to visit the white House. Every country has a place where the "high and mighty" reside, so washington DC made it for the USA. I just got to know that the airlington national cemetery is a cemetery where people who served their country in a special way are buried. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us. One more thing, you are sure a good photographer.😁😁😘😘

Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. :)

Oh somehow I didn’t notice that you’re in the USA currently.
Great travel blog right here, very detailed.
Looking forward to your updates :)

Haha Really?😂
Maybe because I posted mostly at different times I usually do.

Good information

Brother, your explanation is always elaborate. If not because of you, I wouldn't have known more about USA history more than I had known it to be. I hope you enjoyed your stay on there brother.

Glad that you liked it :) Always welcome.

Well I have not seen Scandal yet !

While it sure was a great tour to remember and the squirrel was really looking very beautiful .

Liked the full view where you were standing in the front !

Thanks, my friend. It's a great picture!

Good experience about some historical place.
