Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead

This farmstead in Overland Park is a huge family attraction. Although, it is rather far from home, we visit it every year. The facility has several attractions like a nature trail, petting corner, gardens, fishing pond, horse-drawn wagon ride, pony rides, schoolhouse and native american tepee.

We take the kiddo there even before he could walk. He now loves riding on the children's tractors and bikes. Good opportunity for him to mingle and make new friends of the day.

I vividly remember the first time we rented a fishing pole and bought some bait to try our hand at fun fishing. The bait were long fat live worms and I was morbidly terrified. I have never seen such thick worms and I was tasked to secure the worm to the hook! I could only think of using paper tissues to avoid direct contact with the worm. When I got over the worm trauma, the fishing was quite fun.

I must say the fish in the pond are pretty smart. They often managed get away with the worm. If caught, we always unhook the poor little fish and return them back to the pond.

There are restaurants serving ice cream and snacks. We always bring some food and drinks from home so that we can enjoy lunch at one of the picnic tables.
