Missing out on Oktoberfest & Halloween
When we visited Munich around the end of September 13 with hopes of experiencing the vibes and epic beer culture of Oktoberfest, we were disappointed. We were told that because of our busy morning schedules and the distance to the beer tents, we would not be able to arrive at the venue until late afternoon. The tents would already be packed by then. Our host insisted that it would be impossible for him to keep an eye on our group.
Instead we were treated with delicious meals and drinks around the city area during the three days we were at Munich.
As Halloween is also approaching, I was on the lookout for signs of preparation on the streets and restaurants. There were not many displays to indicate that Halloween is celebrated on a big scale. Perhaps it's still too early and people are occupied with Oktoberfest. I must say the pumpkins on sale were so nicely decorated.
An acquaintance told us that Halloween coincides with a religious official holiday and there are some mixed feelings about celebrating Halloween.
