More Shots from the Old Mill District
Thought I would post a few more shots from my stroll around the Old Mill District on the banks of the Deschutes River in Bend OR. There were two lumber mills here for about 78 years. The last one closing in 1983. In the mid '90s the land was purchased and began it's transformation into what it is today. Nine of the old buildings were saved and renovated to become some of the spaces for the new shops, restaurants, and galleries that came into the area.
Following are a couple pics of the smokestacks from one of the original mills. I also like the way they incorporated some of the old machinery pieces into the artwork in the plaza.
This is a shot looking west toward the Cascade mountain range featuring Broken Top.
Some more artwork in the plaza.
This is the footbridge across the Deschutes River. You can see the top of the amphitheater in the background.
And finally a little of nature's beauty. :)
Hope you enjoyed this little tour. Have a great day!
