Heart of the Desert: Pistachio Farm and Winery

in #travel5 years ago

We stumbled upon a pistachio farm just north of Alamogordo, NM today on our way back from White Sands. This place was a gem among the many tourist traps that lined the road. This place was a haven of some of my favorite things: chocolate, pistachios, and wine.

The best part of arriving at this winery/pistachio farm is the welcome committee, which is the owner's dog Sam. He was a lovely, sweet dog who enjoys a good belly rub. We knew we had stumbled upon something special when we met this cheerful dog.

The pistachio trees went on for miles.

The Tuscan styled patio had full bloomed bougainvillea . The dog friendly patio also offered wonderful views of the pistachio farm. Because of the lovely, temperate weather of this area, plants that would otherwise be leafless and dull were full of color.

The inlaid tiles of the front entrance included iconic images of the region, such as chile ristras and native pottery.

This area sees many visitors due to its proximity to White Sands National Monument. If you happen to be one of the many people passing through, stop at this pistachio farm, grab a glass of wonderful wine, and take in the beautiful weather that persists throughout the year.

very nice post.thanks

Great pictures!! That sure looks like a nice place! Dunno if I will ever be able to visit it though... It’s not exactly at driving distance from Belgium ;-)
