Hello friends!

Welcome to our first travel post. We spent three days in Abu Dhabi and would love to show you some impressions and tell you a little bit about the time we had in the UEA.


After being exposed to 40 degrees Celcius for the first time and a rough taxi trip with a driver who did not have a licence (to make things worse: we paid twice as much as we would have with a regular taxi), we finally arrived at the hotel.

Our first impressions were better than expected: very friendly staff, a clean room with working air-conditioning and our room was ready at 7 in the morning even the check-in usually was at 11.

Because we were exhausted from the 6 hour flight we decided to stay in the hotel room and lay by the pool the whole day. What we didn’t know: Not only was the breakfast included – the receptionist told us, that we were allowed to eat dinner at the 4-stars-hotel next door, too. Therefore we had a lovely dinner to end a relaxing day.

The adventure began the next day in the afternoon. We booked a desert tour that was guided by a friendly guy, who picked us up at the hotel. First, we visited a camel farm, where we became friends with a camel-lady, which did’nt want us to leave.

After an adventurous drive through sand dunes (the lady next to us wasn’t feeling that well…) and some stops to take photos, we arrived at the final destination in the middle of the desert where we rode a camel and had a barbecue before taking off back to the hotel.

A visit to the Yaz Mall shouldn’t be missed neither. Even most of the shops were way too expensive for us we loved to explore the huge mall with all its pretty sculptures and windows all over the ceiling.

The next morning we took a (legal) taxi to the airport. Because we had to check out early in the morning we were forced to wait at the airport for 7 (!) hours until check-in and then wait for another 2 hours to finally get on the plane to Brisbane.
