☀️Amsterdam is touted as being the most bike-friendly city in the world with roughly ⅓ of the population choosing it as their main method of commute and an estimation that the bicycles now outnumber the humans.

💧However ‘friendly’ may not be the best fitting term when describing the human-bike relationship as it is estimated that over 25,000 bicycles end up in the canals each year for reasons unknown. An interview with a homeless gentlemen under a bridge smoking what I can only assume was crack cocaine told me that he was concerned with the bikes taking over and suggested that they may in fact be self-aware.

🌳There are over 60 miles or 100 kilometers of canals throughout the city with water so clean that the animals at the local zoo drink straight from the aqueduct. However, after a little more research I believe that the zoo is just being cheap.

🍄”Amsterdam has more than 150 canals and 1,250 bridges, but it never seems crowded, nor bent and bitter from fleecing the tourist.”🍄
