RE: Real Life Captured Video Tour #90: Prague Czech Republic! Full Travel Pro Commentary! Part Four (6 minute video)

Nice video, thanks. I do regret never having had the opportunity to visit any of Eastern Europe.

You are entirely correct in saying that tourism is very much a double-edged sword, as far as the quality of life of those who actually live in the city in question. I grew up in San Diego, a city which depends too much on tourism. Not only does it drive up the prices of everything for the locals, but when something happens to put a damper on tourism, the whole city feels the effects. San Diego has always had a boom-or-bust economy. It's chicken one week and feathers the next.

Tourism also leads to a certain kitschy, tacky amusement park ambience in the city; everything is pimped and promoted for the tourists. I often felt my city was being prostituted for the amusement of outsiders, and the profit of a very small segment of the population.

Thanks for leaving such and nice detailed message. I've never been to San Diego, and did not know it was like how you describe. Very interesting to hear about it. Yes, I agree that living in a touristy place certainly turns your home town into somewhat of a three ring circus and that gets old quickly. Glad you enjoyed my video and have a great day! -Dan
