last sunday we took a walk to one of our favorite places. the hermesvilla in vienna is situated in an idyllic setting in the middle of the former imperial hunting grounds of empress elisabeth. she used to call her palace as place of dreams. 





this villa was a present from emperor francis joseph to his wife elisabeth in the hope of persuading her to spend more time in vienna. the hermesvilla is surrounded by a beautiful wildlife preserve. the lainzer tiergarten (zoo). 




on an area of 2,450 hectares, visitors can experience a unique natural and cultural landscape with an enormous diversity of animals and plants. while hiking through the reserve, you may see wild boars, stags or deer crossing the path, or with some luck and patience, you may also observe woodpeckers, salamanders and bats. well, instead of meeting a bat we met an adorable cat. he/she was so fluffy and sweet and ready to be petted...



after a hike you can visit the hermesvilla restaurant. they have delicious fresh made food. as you sit there and enjoy your austrian culinary specialty you're instantly relaxed by the beautiful view.



we just love to stroll around on the weekends to forget all the stress from the last week. taking a walk through the forest calms your soul and gives you energy for the next week.
