Travel Diary. Argentina Part II

Puerto Madero and the San Telmo Craft Fair give us a pleasant welcome

Day 2: August 05th

The second day we woke up in the best possible mood; we had breakfast and left early.

We took a bus to the Puerto Madero area. Once there, we had the opportunity to head towards the docks in order to confirm the location of the BuqueBus ferry boarding area, which would take us in the next few days to Uruguay. Near our location, there was the Luna Park artistic and sports center, where international artists perform during their Argentinian tours.

We continued our walk through the port until we approached the iconic Women's Bridge, where we took lots of pictures. Despite the cold weather we had to endure, my companions and I were very excited.
Then we continued to the President Sarmiento Museum Frigate, the first school ship developed for the naval formation of Argentine youth since 1897. Inside the boat there was a wide and very complete exhibition of naval artifacts. We could learn about the history and uses of the ship, while taking many photographs from different points of view.

_ While there, I could not stop reflecting on how blessed I was to live all those magical and unforgettable experiences, together with a group of friends that I could not describe with another qualifier than "family."_

Around noon we had some delicious pizzas in the surrounding area, and then made our way to the San Telmo Street Craft Fair, a boulevard that also crosses the neighborhoods of Barracas and Monserrat. We decided to go on foot, going through one of the University of Buenos Aires headquarters.

Once at the fair, we were able to appreciate a lot of handmade products from the region, as well as an excellent atmosphere. The crafts were very beautiful and varied, made of wood, leather, metal, among other materials.

Among the crafts, I remember the popular pumpkin bowls used to serve Mate, a drink widely consumed throughout the region, which has similar effects to caffeine. We had already been testing it since we arrived in the city.

The long walk along the boulevard took us back to the Plaza de Mayo. Then we decided to continue on foot to the inn. Along the way, we went through a cultural space in the middle of the public road, which consisted of musical presentations and live art shows.

Already exhausted, after a long and wonderful day, we had dinner and finally went to rest. The following day, many interesting things were waiting for us.

To be continued…

The adventure will continue in the next post. Don’t miss it.
