Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen
Copenhagen is a surprising city and I say that with affection. Home to Michelin star restaurants, palaces and serving some of the best beers in Europe, it’s easy to see why Danes are said to be the happiest people on the planet. Its iconic Nyhavn is picture-perfect. It’s a historic canal filled with anchored boats and lined with colourful medieval townhouses. Once a thriving commercial hub, today it is filled with cafes and bars and provides the perfect environment to spend your weekend. I often visit Copenhagen throughout the year and will usually spend up to seven days per trip visiting my visiting my friend, Bina.
Amalienborg was completed in 1760 and is the winter residence of the Danish Royal Family. It comprises four grand palaces situated around a square and features the greatest works of Danish Rococo architecture.
